5. Frequently Asked Questions (DRDO Recruitment & Assessment Centre Scientist 'B')
Is GATE mandatory for DRDO Scientist 'B' recruitment?
Yes. For almost all engineering disciplines, a valid GATE score in the corresponding paper is the mandatory screening criterion to be shortlisted for the personal interview.
What is the Flexible Complementing Scheme (FCS) in DRDO?
FCS is a fast-track, time-bound scientific promotion system where scientists are evaluated on merit and research publications for promotion to higher grades (from Scientist B to C, D, E, F, G) without being restricted by vacancy ceilings.
What is the starting salary of a DRDO Scientist 'B'?
Scientist 'B' starts at Pay Level 10 (Basic ₹56,100). In a Class X city like New Delhi or Bengaluru, the starting monthly take-home salary is approximately ₹88,000 to ₹95,000 post deductions.
What is the minimum qualifying score in the DRDO personal interview?
Candidates must score at least 70% marks (70 out of 100) in the personal interview for Unreserved/EWS categories and 60% marks for OBC/SC/ST categories to be considered for final appointment.
Can final-year engineering students apply for DRDO RAC?
Final-year students who possess a valid GATE score can apply provided they submit their final degree / provisional certificate during document verification before appointment.
